To get the most out of your scented candle, allow it to burn long enough for the wax to melt evenly across the top, as this prevents tunnelling. Always trim the wick to about ¼ inch before each use to avoid excess soot and ensure a steady flame.

Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time, and always place it on a heat-safe surface away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable. When extinguishing the candle, blow it out gently or use a snuffer to prevent wax splatter.

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight until you're ready to enjoy them again. It is recommended to leave at least 5 mm of wax at the bottom of the container. Burning the candle completely can cause the glass to overheat or crack. All of our wicks come with a small tab at the base to prevent them from burning down to the bottom of the glass. This tab is secured to the jar base with glue.

How long should I burn my candle the first time?

Burn your candle for at least 3 to 4 hours during the first use, or until you have an even melt pool across the top. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures better future burns. Minor imperfections on the glass during the first few burns will even out, so there's no need to worry.

How long can I burn a candle at one time?

Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning it for too long can create uneven wax pools and may cause the glass to overheat.

As a general guideline, it's best to burn candles for 3 to 4 hours at a time, or until the wax melts evenly across the top.

How long does it take for the fragrance to fill the room?

Allow approximately 30 minutes for the scent to fill the room.

Should I burn my candle all the way to the end?

No. It is advisable to leave at least 5 mm of wax at the bottom of the container. Completely burning the candle can lead to the glass overheating or even cracking.

All of our wicks are designed with a small tab at the base to prevent them from burning all the way down. This tab is securely attached to the bottom of the jar with glue.

The 3 hour candle rule is when you burn your candle for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until the wax melts evenly across the top, but no more. Burning too long can make the wick mushroom, cause excess soot, and shorten your candle's lifespan.

There are many factors that can affect how long it takes for a full melt pool to form, for instance, the size of the candle. A general rule of thumb is to burn your candle for one hour for every inch in diameter. So if your scented candle jar has a diameter of 3 inches, you should burn for at least 3 hours, or until the wax has melted all the way to the edges.

What kind of wax do you use?

We use a 100% pure blend of rapeseed and coconut wax; our vegan candles contain no additives, soy, or beeswax.

What type of wick do you use?

Our scented candles feature a cotton and linen candle wick specially developed for vegetable waxes like ours. The wick is made from unbleached cotton interwoven with linen thread.

What type of fragrance is used in your candles?

Our suppliers work with the best European perfumers who harvest and expertly blend the finest ingredients to create safe fragrances explicitly designed for candles.

They are thoroughly tested to ensure they are safe and deliver incredible performance.

Are your candles cruelty-free and vegan?

Yes, all our candles are 100% vegan, cruelty-free and responsibly sourced. We use a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax with no additives, soy, or palm oil, ensuring sustainable and ethical production.

Each candle features a cotton wick, and all candle glasses are widely recyclable. All packaging and labels are made from recyclable FSC-certified materials and inks. We fill all parcels with biodegradable eco-packing peanuts that dissolve in water.

Do you use essential oils?

We have intentionally chosen to work with high-quality fragrance oils designed to be burned at higher temperatures, making them suitable for candles. While essential oils may appear natural and safe, they are best used at lower temperatures and can be unsafe when burned in candles.

All of our fragrances are free of phthalates and parabens, as well as many other undesirable chemicals. Although we have used essential oils in the past, we focus on fragrance oils specifically formulated for safe use in natural wax candles for optimal scent and burn.

Why does my candle have dimples or cracks in the wax?

These aesthetic imperfections are normal for natural plant wax candles like ours, which are made from a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax. They do not affect the candle's performance and are a unique characteristic of vegan waxes.

Where should I place my candle for safe use?

Always position your candle on a heatproof surface, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and drafts. This helps prevent overheating and ensures an even burn.

How should I safely store scented candles?

To maintain their quality, keep candles out of reach of children and pets, away from direct sunlight, and store them in a cool, dry place.

Are scented candles safe for use during pregnancy?

We are not aware of any adverse effects that using scented candles would have during pregnancy. However, if you have concerns, we always recommend speaking with your midwife or doctor. Our regular 165g scented candles burn for approximately 35 hours, while our smaller 75g votive candles last around 20 hours.

Do I need to trim my wick?

Long wicks can create high flames, leading to uneven burning, and cause sooting, which affects both safety and the longevity of your candle. It is important to trim your wick before each burn. If your candle wick is too long, it can cause smoking and burn the sides of the glass.

We recommend using a wick trimmer, but smaller household scissors will also work. Be sure to trim your wick only after the wax has cooled to avoid dropping excess wick into the melted wax. A longer wick will cause the flame to burn through the wax more quickly.

Our cotton and linen candle wicks are specially developed for vegetable waxes like ours. They are made from unbleached cotton, interwoven with a linen thread.

What is a mushroom wick, and how can I prevent it?

A mushroom wick refers to a buildup of carbon at the tip of the wick after burning. Always trim your wick before each burn to prevent large flames and excess soot.

We recommend you trim the wick to ¼ inch (around 5 to 6 mm) before lighting.

How can I avoid tunnelling?

Tunnelling occurs when the wax near the centre of a candle burns deeper than the edges. To stop your candle tunnelling, ensure your initial burn is done correctly. After the first burn, avoid lighting the candle for short periods to prevent tunnelling later on. However, do not burn your candle for more than four hours at a time, and allow it to cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.
