Frequently Asked Questions
Scented candles FAQs
Why should I trim my candle wick?
Always trim your wick to 5mm before lighting your candle. Long wicks can create high flames, lead to uneven burning, and cause sooting, affecting safety and candle longevity.
How long should I burn my candle the first time?
Burn your candle for at least 4 hours during the first use. This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures an even wax pool. Don’t worry about minor hang-ups on the glass during the first few burns; they will even out.
How long does it take for the fragrance to fill the room?
Allow approximately 30 minutes for the scent to spread throughout the room. Essential oil candles may take slightly longer due to their natural, slower-releasing compounds.
What is a mushroom wick, and how do I prevent it?
A "mushroom wick" is a buildup of carbon at the tip of the wick after burning. Always remove this before each burn to prevent wild flames and excess soot.
Where should I place my candle for safe use?
Always place your candle on a heatproof surface and keep it away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and droughts. This prevents overheating and keeps the candle burning evenly.
Why does my candle have dimples or cracks in the wax?
These aesthetic imperfections are normal for natural plant wax candles like ours, which are made with a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax. They don’t affect the candle's performance and are a unique charm of vegan waxes.
How long can I burn a candle at one time?
Do not burn your candle for more than four hours in one sitting. Overburning can cause uneven wax pools and overheating of the glass.
Should I burn my candle to the very end?
No, always leave at least 5mm of wax at the bottom of the container. Burning the candle completely may cause the glass to overheat or crack.
Are your candles cruelty-free and vegan?
Yes, all our candles are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. We use a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax with no additives, soy, or palm oil, ensuring sustainable and ethical production.
How do I store my candles safely?
To maintain their quality, keep candles out of the reach of children and pets, away from direct sunlight, and stored in a cool, dry place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Wax melts FAQs
How many wax melts should I use at a time?
One wax melt is usually enough to fill a room with fragrance. However, you can use two melts at once for a more intense aroma if you prefer a stronger scent.
What type of wax melt warmer should I use?
You can use tea light or electric wax melt warmers, but we do not recommend using Scentsy or Yankee Candle burners.
For safe and effective use, ensure your warmer has a 10cm distance between the flame tip and the base of the melt.
How long can I burn my wax melts?
Do not burn your wax melts for more than four hours at a time. Each melt provides up to 12 hours of fragrance to enjoy multiple uses from a single melt.
What happens to the wax when the fragrance is gone?
Wax melts do not burn down; the fragrance evaporates over time. When your melt no longer emits any scent, it's time to remove it from the burner.
Heat the burner gently for 30 seconds to loosen the wax, then pop it out and wipe the dish clean with a tissue.
Avoid using sharp objects to remove the wax, as this can damage the burner.
Are your wax melts eco-friendly?
Yes! Our wax melt pouches are made from pure pine wood cellulose, making them 100% biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable.
Additionally, we use a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly product.
Are your wax melts vegan and cruelty-free?
Absolutely. We never test our products on animals, and our wax melts are made without soy, palm, or animal-derived ingredients.
Why does my wax have dimples or cracks?
These aesthetic imperfections are natural and occur because we use a pure blend of rapeseed and coconut wax without additives.
They don’t affect the performance or scent throw of the wax melts and add to the charm of natural plant-based products.
Can I reuse the wax melt after it cools?
Yes, as long as the melt emits fragrance, you can reheat and reuse it multiple times until the scent evaporates completely.
How long will the fragrance last in each wax melt?
Each wax melt provides up to 10 hours of fragrance, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your chosen scent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Reed diffusers FAQs
How many reeds should I use with my reed diffuser?
We include seven high-quality fibre reeds with each diffuser, as this provides the perfect balance for optimum scent strength. If you prefer a more subtle fragrance, reduce the number of reeds you use.
How often should I turn the reeds?
Ensure the reeds are fully saturated for the best results. Turn the reeds once after the first 24 hours and then weekly to maintain an optimal fragrance throw.
If you'd like a stronger scent, turn the reeds daily. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after handling them or wear gloves.
Where should I place my reed diffuser?
Place your reed diffuser on a stable, heatproof surface. Avoid polished, painted, plastic, or leather surfaces, as accidental spillage can damage these materials.
For safety reasons, never place it on or near electrical equipment.
What is the base of your reed diffusers made from?
Our vegan-friendly diffuser base is derived from non-GMO plant oils. It meets the strict “non-GMO” standards and regulations of EC 1829/2003 and 1830/2003).
None of the processing aids used in its production contain or consist of GMOs and are not produced from GMOs. No antioxidants, preservatives, nanomaterials, glycol ethers, animal products or animal testing have been used at any stage during manufacture.
Are reed diffusers safe to use?
While our reed diffusers are safe when used correctly, always handle them with care:
- WARNING: The liquid is flammable. Do not light the reeds.
- Do not ingest the liquid.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- People with perfume sensitivities should use caution when handling and using the product.
How can I prevent damage to my reed diffuser?
Keep your reed diffuser out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent the liquid from evaporating too quickly. This will prolong the lifespan of your diffuser and ensure a consistent scent throw.
What can I do if the fragrance throw seems weak?
If the scent seems weak, turn the reeds more frequently—daily if needed. Ensure the diffuser is placed in a location with good airflow but away from draughts, which can disperse the scent too quickly.
How long will my reed diffuser last?
The lifespan of your reed diffuser depends on the number of reeds used, room temperature, and humidity. On average, our reed diffusers last a minimum of eight weeks.
Can I refill my reed diffuser?
Yes! You can purchase reed diffuser refill bottles and new reeds from our store to reuse your diffuser vessel.
Ensure you clean the vessel and replace the reeds with the new fragrance for optimal performance.
